How Mr. Roofing Turned Decades of Customer Trust into Smarter Marketing and 38% Growth
What does smarter marketing look like for a roofing company that's been serving its community since 1989? For Carlos Rodriguez, it starts with something surprisingly simple: doing great work, measuring what matters, and making sure the next homeowner can see the proof.
I recently sat down with Carlos, owner of Mr. Roofing, to look back on our relationship with Predictive Sales AI, which began around 2019. We talked about what first brought us together, why he's stayed, and how his team connects customer experience, completed projects, neighborhood marketing, and measurable results.
What stood out most wasn't a particular tool. It was how deliberately Carlos thinks about growth.
Another Opportunity to Earn Trust.
Mr. Roofing combines real project examples, customer reviews, referral outreach, and neighborhood marketing to make its existing work more visible to prospective customers.
The Mr. Roofing Story Started Long Before Digital Marketing
Carlos's father founded Mr. Roofing in 1989. Carlos took over leadership in 1998, and today the business serves homeowners primarily in San Francisco and San Mateo counties. Its focus includes roofing and solar, but Carlos describes the company's purpose in broader terms: protecting and empowering families and communities.
When we talked about the company's growth strategy, Carlos kept coming back to the customer experience. Long before digital project showcases and neighborhood audiences, the business was already built around satisfied customers, repeat work, and referrals.
The question we explored together was how to make that trusted, community-driven approach work at a larger scale.
Carlos Didn't Just Want More Leads. He Wanted Better Information.
Carlos first connected with our team when we operated as Spectrum, through the Certified Contractors Network. He remembers the website capabilities, but what really caught his attention was the ability to see and measure what marketing was doing.
As a GAF Master Elite roofing contractor, Mr. Roofing needs marketing that understands how contractors actually operate: incoming calls, quote requests, appointments, seasonal demand, and the difference between a lead and a real sales opportunity.
Carlos told me that having a partner who speaks that language matters. So does being able to review call recordings, monitor campaigns, and make decisions from real performance data rather than assumptions.
Making Every Completed Project Work Harder
One of my favorite parts of our conversation was hearing how Carlos uses Project Showcase. His team uploads completed projects at least weekly, making their work visible to homeowners and using those jobs as starting points for marketing to nearby property owners.
For Carlos, it's not just about publishing photos. It's about showing prospective customers that Mr. Roofing is already working in their community—and keeping the attention on the Mr. Roofing brand rather than sending visitors to a third-party marketplace.
It's a natural evolution of a strategy he's followed for decades: do the work well, earn the customer's confidence, and let that experience help introduce the business to the next homeowner.
38% Business Growth—With Fewer Appointments
When I asked Carlos about results, he offered an example that challenges the usual obsession with lead volume. In 2025, Mr. Roofing grew as a business even as its number of set appointments declined.
Carlos explained that his team was getting in front of prospects who better appreciated their approach, helping conversion. His takeaway was especially memorable:
Carlos also reported that, at the time of our conversation, set appointments were up 15% and business growth was approximately 21% for the current year. For him, the point is not that every metric moves together. It's that having the data lets him understand what to improve, where to invest, and when to change course.
Results are self-reported by Mr. Roofing and reflect overall business performance, not growth attributed solely to PSAI.
The People Behind the Platform Matter, Too
Another theme Carlos kept returning to was collaboration. His team works with ours across website optimization, organic and paid marketing, project content, lead generation, and referrals. He spoke about the value of regular conversations with his PSAI account team and their understanding of Mr. Roofing's processes and core values.
That perspective is important to us. Technology is most useful when there's a team helping connect the tools to the business's actual goals—and willing to look at the numbers together.
Connecting the Entire Customer Story
Toward the end of our conversation, I asked Carlos what he was most excited to work on next. His answer brought everything full circle: connecting the work happening on a jobsite with the marketing homeowners see before, during, and after that project.
Imagine a neighbor seeing a Mr. Roofing truck and job sign, then seeing that same project on a map, followed by relevant marketing and real customer proof. Carlos wants those moments to tell one consistent story.
After talking with Carlos, my biggest takeaway was that effective marketing isn't simply about generating more activity. It's about making the work you've already done more valuable, understanding which opportunities are worth pursuing, and having the right people and technology to keep improving.
